I'm currently completing my one-year internship at one hospital and then going to a completely different hospital for my residency in anesthesia.

As an intern/resident, I have a Limited License which allows me to practice under supervision at the sponsoring institution. Currently this is sponsored by my $Internship_Hospital. Beginning July 1, this will be sponsored by my $Residency_Hospital. The limited license is ONLY for the sponsoring hospital and does not allow "moonlighting" at other hospitals.

In addition, from what I can understand, my malpractice coverage from $Internship_Hospital was for a year from July 1 last year until June 30 this year.

I am the sick call through June 30. Meaning that if another intern calls in sick, I am supposed to cover for them.

Hopefully this won't happen, but if someone calls in sick overnight from June 30 to July 1, does this mean I'm not legally allowed to practice at $Internship_Hospital or covered by insurance after the end of June 30? I do not actually have to show up for work at $Residency_Hospital on July 1, so I'm not worried about the timing. However, I do want to make sure my arse is covered if they ask me to cover for someone who calls in sick on my LAST day of internship.

they will backdate any 'issues' that occur the first day of internship...

this must be a state-by-state thing, because i know my temporary license allows me to practice anywhere in the state, assuming it's part of my residency training.
