Would receiving an undergraduate library research prize from your university (for "demonstrating a strategic and effective use of library resources for research on campus") be a good thing to list on the AMCAS Activities section as an award under its own slot?

I'm not sure because while it is a selective prize, it is also pretty niche, so it's not a well known or nationally prestigious award. Is this the type of thing that would make an applicant "stand out" to adcoms or just look like padding? @LizzyM

More details on the prize to put it in context: It's only awarded to 4 students per year, and eligibility to apply for it is based on participation in a campus research program and nomination by a faculty member. It's not a prize given for your specific research project, but for how you used library resources for your research.

Seems fine to list. When Dean's list is included in its own category, you know that the bar for including an award is pretty low.

In your description, I would suggest mentioning that it's awarded to four students, based on nomination by faculty, and for demonstration of strategic and effective use of resources for research.
