Licensure

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Currently at hour 4 of filling out paperwork, mailing off requests, and paying yet another fee to verify this or that.

I feel you. I am recently fully licensed in MA and the process was as tedious as you describe and then it frequently takes 2+ months to receive the actual license after multiple back and forths about new paperwork they want filled out that wasn't included in the initial application packet. And it is expensive as heck for the service I was provided. Keep up the tedious work, renewing the licenses is usually much, much simpler in the future.

Thanks. It feels good to not be alone with this. Why isn't there a national licensing clearinghouse? State by state medical licensure should have gone out with smoking in the workplace and teletypes.

I concur. Moving states when I finish residency, ugh. I think 4 hours is a low estimate in my case. In addition to all the damn papers I had to go to the damn police station, pay to have my prints then then pay again when I mailed them to the place that processes them and sends the (thrilling-no legal issue) results to my future state.
