Life in Henderson....

i have a lot of family in vegas that live around henderson. it's not a bad area from what i know and you practically need a car to go anywhere. i don't think you're too close to the strip, but i'm sure there's a casino nearby somewhere. it's a nice, slower paced life i guess.. depending on where you're from.

I'm from Los Angeles...Wouldn't be a great commute I imagine...

my friend that goes there has said this about las vegas in general: there is a lot of crime and traffic sucks but most of the bad things are related to the crazy growth they are having.

and this about henderson: the area around the school is really nice

aaa, can't be worse than LA...crime-wise or traffic-wise...

I live about 2 blocks from the school in henderson. Which is probably the safest area of las vegas (btw if you stay out of the ghetto its safe). you do you need a car to go everywhere and traffic is bad if you do not know what streets to take at certain times. The worst part of Vegas is the summer heat. And about the school well.... it doesnt look like much from the outside but it is a new facility

dang, i didn't realize vegas had ghettos...or even traffic for that matter...i'd be right at home! i mean, i've driven out to vegas with friends before, and i always wondered, what do people who live here do beside the strip?
but i guess it has a lot of suburbs and stuff....

I live in Henderson. It is very nice, low crime etc. No. Las Vegas and icky places (ghetto) like near downtown can be scary, but Henderson is a family suburb with nice local safe casinos *Green Valley Ranch & Sunset Station*. Very similar to the OC. Traffic is okay, just have to know when to stay off the freeway. If you live near the school, you won't need the freeway unless you are going to the Strip & west side. It's fun & safe. Don't worry. 🙂 I hope I get into Touro this cycle. Retaking the MCAT in January. :scared:

I used to live in Las Vegas. Henderson/Green Valley/Summerlin are all quiet and safe neightborhoods outside Las Vegas. Besides the strip, there are golf courses and other outdoor leisure activities. However, most of the leisure activities are on the Strip. Traffic can be pretty bad since there really isn't enough roads to support the city's growth. Crime is the worst in areas just outside the Strip itself (Las Vegas Blvd). The absolute worst area is MLK Blvd/Washington where there were shootings every week. When driving around neighborhoods like that make sure you do not honk your horn or antagonize other drivers who cut you off/drive like crap...when I lived there there were frequent incidents of drivers getting killed by gunfire because of trivial conflicts mentioned above (they follow you until you slow down or stop and start shooting).
