Any major works for med school. Any. I should know - I majored in something as far removed from pre med as one can find.

Princeton Review and CollegeBoard have books about majors that are decent. You can probably find these at your local library in the reference section.

http://www.collegeboard.com/ is really good all you have to do is type in the major in the upper right corner and they have a whole page about the major.

It is EXTREMELY school dependent. Collegeboard could provide a good starting point but I recommend going to the websites of the schools you are looking at and poking around.
Using most schools will have a page with all the majors they offer with links to more detailed descriptions.

If you know what college you're looking for, go to the registrars page and order catalog. UT Austin sent mines for free. It includes class descriptions, the total number of hours required for graduation, sample plans, etc. It even has pre-health advising info, so its helpful there too.

It was certainly interesting to me, and I had (and still have) a passion for it, and it led to formative college and post college experiences that led me to an interest and passion in medicine.

Follow your interests and passions in choosing a major. I had no inkling of interest in medicine when I went to college...it certainly made for an entertaining personal statement, and interviewers were very interested in my "non trad" background...

Most universities nowadays have all of their majors online on their websites. Start there for preliminary ideas, take some prerequisites to see if it's actually what you wanna do, and keep your mind open to change.

Thanks for the help everyone! I want to "major" in premed or be premed anyways and then probably do a science major because it interests me. maybe chem or genetics.

check at your local library or school library. they had an interesting one at my school library.

how long did it take for you to graduate + finish pre-reqs ? My biggest worry is it'll take forever to finish my pre-reqs (pharm) and graduate on time (econ). 🙁
