I was just looking at a random school's (University of Washington) pharmacy program and it mentioned that they will recalculate grades to ignore the initial attempt on a retaken class. My GPA would drop from a 3.2 to a 2.8 using pharmcas' method so a list of schools that do this would be quite useful.

Side question: does anyone know if PharmCAS, when averaging retaken courses, count double the credit or just average the grade and keep the credit # to just one class? for example, if I got an F and then an A in a 3 credit class, do they count a C for 3 or 6 credits?

3 credits.

edit: I was wrong. See my other post below.

What if you failed twice and retaken for an A ?
Actually, I was wrong in the reply. I should have had more coffee. So what PharmCAS does is takes each grade turns it into a numeric value (0-4.0) and multiplies that value by the amount of credits that class was worth to get something called quality points. PharmCAS adds up all the quality points and then divides that by the total number of credits. This is done so transcripts from multiple institutions can be combined. So, in OP's case of a course worth 3 credits taken twice with an F and an A the calculation would be (4.0*3)+(0.0*3)= 12 quality points and the GPA would be 12/6=2.0.

For your case of failing twice and then getting an A, I feel from the language here they would do (4.0*3)+(0*3)+(0*3)=12 and GPA would be 12/9=1.33. You can confirm by emailing them. They're quite fast on the reply.

edit: They confirmed all three grades would be averaged

Thank you for the clarification @FlexiblePharm .. welp my 3.48 is now a 2.68. I have 39 units of F's that have been replaced in my college at least but I'll keep on trying !

@kvpharmacy Lol so we in the same boat. There's a few schools out there that have the retake forgiveness thing but so far I've only come across 2 or 3 that do that.
