Hey, guys or present residents,
I am sure we have heard horror story about friends being highly recruited by PD, and when they rank the program #1, only to find out that they're matched at 2nd or 3rd choice...

How about let's make a list of these programs, so that the current applicants can learn from other's mistakes, or simply be aware of these program's potential "trick"....

Again, I wholeheartedly agree that we should only rank our list based on where we want to go...

I'm not sure what you mean. You shouldn't believe anything they tell you along the lines of "I'm sure you will match here blah blah blah."

I'm in total agreement. Most people at most programs will give you some kind of positive feedback about your application or interview. You can't hold them to their word though. There are a lot of good applicants in EM that are applying for a finite number of positions. Someone will be left without a chair when the music stops.

Would you make a list of companies that said "I think your just the person we're looking for...." during your interview, but then didn't ultimately offer you the job?

I don't think that this is really screwing anyone over. Programs can't know in advance how far down their ROL they will go in the match. They may, indeed, think you would be great and that you would match, only to be surprised that they matched applicants very highly off their list.
