So, i was working on my application for the upcoming cycle. And this is the list of schools that i came up with. What do you guys think of the list compared to my pre-dents stats?

1) UConn (State School)
2) Columbia
3) Tufts
4) BU
5) Buffalo
6) NYU
7) Temple
8) Maryland
9) UPenn
10) UMDNJ
11) Harvard

With your stats you have a shot anywhere even Harvard. Do you want to stay in the northeast? Add ivies as well.

Harvard and stonybrook are good choices too.

Thanks guys...
yeah i want to stay in north eastern side...dont want to go far away from the family. Should i add UPenn also?
I dont think i would go for Harvard because of my RC score and i did not choose Stony Brook as they have very few seats for out state students.

UPenn should probably be on there, I'd add some more state schools as well, maybe Michigan, VCU. Every thought of coming down California way? I'm sure you'd have a good shot at UCLA, UCSF and Pacific.

No way man...Cal will be way too FAR from here....

Given you stats you can add any schools in the northeast.

I edited it....sounds good? or take off some or add more?

You could probably take off a few of the schools you don't really want to go to, you will likely be choosing b/w a few schools and those application fees/interview costs would just be wasted money. Narrow it to 10 or less schools

i tried hard but i couldnt go more down than this.....so i guess this 13 should be good.

The biomedical engineering background will probably put you at a high premium, and Harvard has a history of accepting students for no other reason than the background. That's a also a very high GPA for that major. If I were you, I'd cut out some schools and save cash. You have too many backup schools. Stony has a strong in-state bias. Creighton has a strong bias towards out-of-state students in that area. You'll get better than VCU midwestern. If you're going as far as midwestern, you might as well do some Cali schools.

I dont have midwestern there. Cali schools would be too far. Now i have schools only on this side with farthest at VCU.

Good list overall. Very well thought out, applying to the schools you have the best chances of getting in to.

Is Ann Arbor too far away? and why VCU?

Ann Arbor?i am sorry to say but never heard of it?
Yeah even i was thinking why VCU?

I had so many schools because of the feeling that just saving a couple of hundred bucks now might not cost another year.

Ann arbor, michigan.

Hmm..Michigan might not be too far. Should i add UMich? I did add UMDNJ.

U Michigan's in Ann Arbor, MI. Top notch school.

So far, you have reputation schools: Harvard, Columbia, Penn, UConn. High acceptance schools: Tufts, BU, NYU, MD, Buffalo. Low cost schools: Buffalo, MD, Conn, maybe Harvard too. Fun city schools: NYC, Boston. I think it'd be to your benefit to ponder which schools'll give you a good blend of everything.

My attraction to UCSF's that it gives everything. Public school tuition., fun SF, and specialty rep, and lots of time off.

I think you can afford to take out at least one school from Tufts, BU and NYU. With your stats, you needn't spend any money on opting for three high acceptance rate schools.

I like your sarcasm as always....Harvard will be a very long shot for you (and most others) since their average stats are 24.5 DAT 3.85 GPA....But the rest of your list looks great! Add Nova thats another easier to get into schools! good luck! 🙂

I'd say just apply to Harvard and Stony Brook. It'll be like $100 or something and won't matter in the long run, but could pay off big.

Well, in that case UConn is def the best choice. Low cost, reputation, i can stay home as i am only 20 mins drive away from UConn, so saving on rent and food. But the only thing i dont like about UConn is 2 years of medicine:scared:
and NYU would be my very last option because of its location.

Any other public schools that you fancy? There are lots with good rep and location.

But then i dont want to stay far from home. Even Nova is stretched out a bit.

I wasn't being sarcastic, and I think he's a fine candidate for any dental school in the country.

The op's stats are very similar to yours' yet you applied to Harvard as well (late even). Though you both have a good shot the OP might have an even better chance being that he will apply in May. I would add Stony brook and if Michigan is too far for you then Nova will be as well. You will definitely have plenty of interviews.
Good luck Class of 2013

I looked up at Mich website and they require Psych, Socio as pre-reqs. I dont have any more space in my course schedule to fit anymore classes. So, there is no point of applying to Mich. and yeah Nova, i might drop it.
But i think stony has only 5 seats for out state. so, thats kinda too slim of a chance.

Put Harvard back on. Ignore SHC. It'd be a mistake to not apply there. Yes, they have a very high AA, but 19's have gotten accepted in recent years. Harvard loves engineers, esp engineers with super high GPA. You have a good chance there because of your research in biomaterial and dental strips. That will be the chief reason for them.

You can keep/remove Nova, but keep the others the way it is. And add Harvard.

I agree. The most important thing I have learned from applying to D school is that scores are not everything.

Keep Harvard on the list. You might wanna look at this, too:

Harvard isn't all about statistics.
I'm assuming this is not just a fake account.😛

Thanks guys...yeap Harvard is in there.
Damn, if that account is real then that guy is really lucky....
So, now the list should be good?

Leave the list as is. No mods.

Yea, he only got into one school. Got rejected left and right but landed Harvard. Not too shabby.

Yeap...thanks a ton!!!

I meant to say applying to just Harvard and Stony would not be wise since Harvard is very diffcult to get into due to the high stats...I am sure stony is too due to the small class size and being from out of state etc. I wasn't saying its impossible to get into Harvard for the OP. Sorry the confusion.

I hope so, but I still haven't heard anything from them yet and its Feb....I was hoping my MANY MANY MANY hours of research will impress them...I know my stats won't at all...

Its fine people...Harvard is like a reach school for me....i am just keen to get in somewhere close to CT, thats all

Oh and maybe cause SB wants high stats too =]

2011 AA is 22 and GPA in the 3.7 range, but he absolutely has a chance. Yes it's hard to get in from out of state but we don't set aside only 5 or 6 seats. I bet there's some sort of cap they'd like to keep it under since it is a public school but if they just can't turn away 8 out of stater students then I'm sure they'd accept them all.

I'm from out of state. My class has 6 out of state students. I believe 3 NJ, 1 DE, 1 WA, and 1 HI.

What school do you really want to go to? You have a great application (assuming your essay's good to go), so I wouldn't bother applying to too many schools. Some perspective is good, though, so don't just apply to UConn even if you're positive you'll get accepted and would like to go there.

Regardless of how good your stats are it is recommended that you apply to around 10 schools. If you are cutting the number of schools you are contemplating then 10 is a good number.

As i said earlier, UConn seems to be the best option and a good choice in every matter except their 2 yrs of medicine classes, and then the very next option would be Tufts or BU.
