  1. Veterinary Student
Hello all! I am moving to Gainesville for Vet school this fall and am looking to buy a house. I am looking for somewhere quiet (not surrounded by drunk college kids at night), SAFE, and relatively close to campus (within biking distance, but minimal traffic is also good). Do any Florida residents out there have any advice?

Hello! I'd recommend looking in the Duck Pond area. It's a nice neighborhood close to campus!

The Southwest area (specifically between Archer Road, Williston, SW 34th St, and SW 23rd terrace) is super close to the vet school, and tons of students who bike to school live in that area.

There are many quiet, safe areas near the vet school. There are also some loud party spots. Most of the housing available withinwalking/biking distance to the vet school is apartments/condos. There are some decent houses though offWilliston Road between SW 34th street and SW 13th street. Google Williston Road in Gainesville. SW 35th place is all student living. Hit or miss with the drunken areasthough. Grantwood Condominiums is a niceand quiet community with mostly grad students. Places like Gainesville Placeor the Polos are geared towards younger students that want to party all thetime. Do not even go to Phoenix!!! It is very ghetto and not safe. Good luck and congrats on getting into vetschool!!
One other thing to keep in mind is parking. Decals are expensive and more are always sold than there are spots. Just because you have a decal does not mean you are gurarnteed a parking spot. Best thing to do would be to bike/walk to campus.
