Do electron domains only occur around the central atom in a molecule? My textbook only gives examples of electron domains around central atoms, but it does not explicitly state whether that is the only atom that has electron domains. Please help. 🙂

Its been a while, but i think you mean electron orbitals? Not domains? And definitely they would be around every nucleus. To you me and the textbook, there may seem like a central atom. But if you think of it from nature's perspective, this type of reference frame just doesn't exist.

Haha, no I definitely mean electron domains, from the VSEPR model. But I found the answer. All of the atoms in a molecule have electron domains, but for the purpose of finding the geometry of the molecule, we only care about the ones surrounding the central atom.
