LOE from DDS

The DDS I sent the LOE to is a friend of mine (we used to work together, her the DDS me the hygienist) and she sent me an email saying she wasn't sure how to write a word doc on her mac and also what to write -- to send her a template or something. Can anyone help me with this?

Business letter format, on a letter head, something like this:

To Whom It May Concern,
or
Dental School Admissions Committee,

I am writing to (insert adverb) recommend (insert name) for admission to dental school. (State qualifications here, how well you know the applicant, why the adcoms should listen to what you have to say)... maybe something like this: "I have been a practicing dentist for X years and can confidently attest to (name)'s work ethic, character, and academic aptitude. In my X years of practice, I have not met someone more dedicated, personable, and prepared for a career in dentistry."

This is the dentist's opportunity to substantiate the accolades they gave you in the first paragraph. Here in the second paragraph maybe give a few examples of what you did, how you helped out in the office, your patient interactions, etc.

In the final paragraph, reiterate your purpose and restate what the letter is all about.

That's just an idea - everyone formats letters differently and has their own voice. Hope this helped you out.

As an aside, it's a little surprising that a practicing dentist doesn't know how to create a .doc

Ha! My dentist didn't know how to write a letter .... Or spell :/ I had to create a letterhead and everything. And re-check every little word. Very intelligent person, but confused as all get out when it comes to computers.
