LOI/update letter question

Hello everyone. I am in that stage of the application process where my complete app is being reviewed by schools. I have a good GPA but my MCAT score wasn't too good. I am retaking it in September. I am afraid I won't qualify for any interview due to my MCAT score. So I was wondering when is a good time to send in LOI/update letter? I have heard people getting interviews and acceptance because of the letters. I do have some new activities I started after submitting my AMCAS. Should I update the schools now or wait? Thanks.

If the school hasn't started sending out interviews I would wait. And I'd still wait a few weeks after they do.

Generally consensus is the floor for MD schools is a 27. You really don't want a sub score below a 7 as well.
