Hi everyone,

I have an interview at LL this month. I am both nervous and excited at the same time... My GPA is low, my DAT is high, and my extracurricular activities are really good.

anyways, I wanted to know if people that got accepted or rejected after the interview could share any experiences or information that might give me an edge with the interview...i have read interview feedback, but I wanted to see if you could give me additional help. Please answer the following questions and add your own insight. Thank you.

1. When was your interview?
2. What did you think of the interview?
3. What was the most difficult question asked?
4. Did you get accepted or rejected?
5. How long after your interview did you get your rejection or acceptance letter?
6. ONLY IF YOU GOT REJECTED, what do you think prevented you from getting accepted?
7. Are you SDA?

please add your own insight again,,,,thanks!!!! 🙂

Read the Bible

First off, they don't ask any questions really at all. All you need to do is be able to carry on a normal conversation just like if it was a friend. I'm LDS and this didn't have any baring at all on anything. I have Christian beliefs and with Christian beliefs, naturally, you are already their kind of person. Now, all you have to do is let a very easy conversation be easy. You don't have to force anything at all, just have fun and enjoy the conversation.

I was interviewed on November 21st and was told that the committee would meet and make their decision on me in a matter of days. They don't seem to have the same urgency as other schools as far as filling their seats, so you might have to be patient. I loved my interview there. It was super fun cause it was super normal. I felt at home from the start. It was a really easy school to like just because of the people there. As far as the facilities went, they seemed to be just as good as the average dental school. It was super laid back. All the students in the clinic asked me all about my interview and I laughed with them about random things for at least 30 minutes. I was just surprised no one came over to tell us to break up the party. Anyways, Good luck and just know, no preparation AT ALL is needed.

Have in mind your favorite text from the Bible, just in case you're asked for one. John 3:16 will be a good one to think of if you have no idea where to seach from... 🙂

Why would a bunch of random strangers want to give you an "edge" on your interview. Just do the thing like everyone else is. The committee will judge your merits and decide whether you have "really good" extracurriculars, not us. Don't mean to be hard on you, but I think many of us who didn't need advice before going on a simple interview are getting annoyed by people looking for an easy way out.

Dude, I interviewed there BEFORE November 21, early Nov. But I still haven't heard back from them, each time I call I get the "your application is on its way to ad comm blah blah blah." I'm NOT SDA, I'm muslim so I guess that was a big deal, even though interview went well, didn't seem like ultimately they want me. Sucks cause it was my first choice after seeing the campus, speaking to students and faculty.

Just curious, do Mormons and SDAs have anything in common with regards to teachings/beliefs they uphold?

Actually, they have a lot in common. But I think that most of it falls under regular christian beliefs. They believe strongly in the importance of family and doing what is right and working to do your best every single day. As far as how the two religions came about, I think that that's where you'll find most of the differences.

The LDS religion is belived to be the only true church in the entire world. It is the same church that Jesus established on the earth during his ministry. When He left, a period called the apostasy happened which means that the "church" and its "authority to act in his name" were lifted from the earth for a time. This event was prophesied about in the Bible. Many also call and understand this period to be the Dark Ages. During this time, many religions changed and altered many crucially important parts of the Bible. Consequently, the Bible we have today is unfortunately not complete. There are many teachings that the Lord wants us to know that are no longer in there.

This is where the Book of Mormon comes into play. The Lord knew that the sacred Bible would be altered. Hence, he made sure another record would be made during that same time period of which the Bible was written. Except, this record would be written by prophets that were living in the Americas a long time ago, during the same time period, in fact, that the Bible was being recording initially in Jerusalem. To ensure that this other piece of scripture would not be altered, as would the Bible, the Lord commanded the last prophet (before the apostasy) to bury the Book of Mormon in a hole so it could not be changed. Again, this makes the Book of Mormon just another book to go along WITH the Bible because they were both written by ancient prophets, just in different parts fo the world. Together, they make an awesome understanding of what the Lord wants us to know to better tackle the difficulties that face us in our lives today.

Now, many years later, when the apostasy would soon have to end, the Lord would have to call another prophet (seeing that that is always how he has communicated with his church). This prophet was Joseph Smith back in 1830. We do not pray to him at all, we just understand him to be a Latter day prophet just like the ones we're used to hearing about, like Abraham. Joseph Smith was called of God to restore his church and the authority back on the earth. He also revealed to Joseph Smith where the Book of Mormon was burried. Joseph Smith was given the gift of translation, and translated the Book of Mormon into english. You can practically get it in any language now. We can now have a fuller understanding of the gospel by having both of the ancient scriptures that the Lord has for us, giving us a more complete roadmap to this life and the life hereafter. Both books speak endlessly about Christ and his sacrifice. Since then, missionaries have been sent to the whole world to tell the whole world that the Church of Jesus Christ has been restored in these latter days. Sorry it's so long, but it's not easy to put a whole religion into words. I hope this helps.

Man, if I had those plates of gold "Mormon book", I would cash them in. You know how expensive gold is nowadays! It is amazing to thing that Josephat tripped over them walking a round in the hills. Some people just have all the luck.

to those that gave sincere recommendations, THANK YOU....

please let's try to stay on topic, which is about acceptamce into Loma Linda... 🙂

what's SDA?
SDA stands for Seventh-Day Adventist. This name comes from the fact that we keep the seventh day, the Sabbath, as the day of rest (this is Saturday-not Sunday, as per one of the ten commandments) and Adventist refers to awaiting Jesus' second coming to earth. Basically we believe in the Bible and try to be more like Jesus, although we all sin as we are human. The idea is that Jesus paid for those sins. That's it in a nutshell. If you're interested in more, you can go to http://www.immanuelsda.org/believes.aspx for more details.

Good luck!

What the hell is wrong with you people? Can't we just give this guy (or girl) some good advice?

1. When was your interview? Nov. 29
2. What did you think of the interview? Easy, conversation-like... Religion topics were only glazed over.
3. What was the most difficult question asked? None, all very easy.
4. Did you get accepted or rejected? Accepted
5. How long after your interview did you get your rejection or acceptance letter? 14 days
6. ONLY IF YOU GOT REJECTED, what do you think prevented you from getting accepted? N/A
7. Are you SDA? No

The interview is very easy, one hour with one person, a short essay, and a school tour. Everybody is very friendly. The school is also very diverse for being a private Christian school (i.e. many different races and :gasp: religions are represented).

sorry..just wanted to add some sarcasim ..... 😀

I'm LDS and feel like I fit in really well here at LLU. The student body is seriously awesome, people are friendly and really easy to get along with. Last year, LLU was my last acceptance (out of 6). I had already decided to go to Maryland but then the LLU acceptance came sometime in February so I changed my mind at the last minute and don't regret it. Maryland was a great school with a cool new building, but right now I'm sitting in lecture with the back door open, it's a beautiful sunny day (the campus is great, with palm trees and all that). Anyway, best of luck! Let me know if you have anymore questions. My GPA and DAT were good (3.8, 20) and my extracurriculars were really good too.

what questions did you ask the person that interviewed you about the school?
