Hello,

I just wanted to just get your opinion on which school has a better DPT program. Thank you!

Loma Linda.

Great ortho, caring professors, better reputation, and solid clinical rotation.

Most PTs that I’ve worked with talk highly of Loma Linda but with Western, I’ve heard mixed things. My friends who are currently attending these programs say similar things. Most importantly, Loma is cheaper!

I was already leaning more towards LLU for the reasons you mentioned but was unsure about WesternU. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and experiences of people you know. It is very much appreciated!

Hi there! I've had the chance to work alongside PT's from both, but I think LLU wins ever so slightly. Western's campus and surrounding area didn't have me feeling comfortable the few times I have visited. I like their program and their students seem to love it. But the campus on top of their crazy average student debt, I was turned off by it.

Thanks for sharing your experience at WesternU! I'm having a lot of PTs/students tell me the same thing--campus isn't very welcoming & that the faculty are cold towards students and yea it is really expensive!

I can't speak on the faculty..I've heard the opposite! It was just that the campus is not the greatest parts of SoCal...and it looks run down and outdated.

WesternU. Depending on your religious stance, you’ll be forced to take religious courses at LLU on top of all of your other courses. I’ve heard some good things, and some bad things about LLU, but mostly good.
But, WesternU has one of the greatest reputations for student PT’s, especially in Southern California. Always 95-100% pass rate, and 100% hire rate once out of school. It’s true the area around Western isn’t great, but they have security guards outside of every building at all times. Faculty are also very generous and always have time to meet students.
But, go with where you feel like you will excel and enjoy your experience. Don’t go based off what you hear.

Hey thanks for your input! 🙂 Much appreciated. Just out of curiosity are you a student at Western?

Also LL location is much better. Western U is surrounded by geto.
As for passing rates and jobs after graduation, I believe all accredited programs have about the same stats.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts 🙂 I actually just visited WesternU and was really not fond of the area at all. I wouldn't feel safe having to live there for 3 years. That being said, I do agree with your statement of all accrediting programs having similar stats. I've met PTs from a vast variety of different schools of different "rankings" & realized it had nothing to do with the school they went to that dictated the kind of PT they became, but more with the individual, their passion for the field, and their determination to continue learning.
