Hi all,

I'm currently torn between these two schools and I have no idea which one to choose. Both are similar tuition wise and cohort size. Any help/feedback/comparisons is much appreciated! Thank you.

I don’t know much about their differences. I do know that LLU requires students to go to church once a week and you can only miss two before you are taken out of their program and they are very strict with how you can act and represent the university (things that could negatively affect the perception of the university). I learned this from a lecturer at my University who also works at LLU as well.

I am curious though because I applied to APU for the program starting in 2021. When did you apply and when did you hear back? Good luck with your decision

I actually applied for APU's 2020 cohort, but was too late and ended up getting rejected. I got an interview invite on March 15th and got an acceptance call today. Thank you! I hope you hear back from them too.

Hey first year at Azusa Pacific. I might be biased but I honesty love the program here. The faculty are amazing and the 3 cohorts are like family. Like we are cool with the year two and threes and see them all the time. I recommend ylu check out liftforchange videos on YouTube. He did a whole vlog on his 3 years of experiences as a student at Apu. I’m not too familiar with Loma Linda but Searn and Kunal are two YouTubers who are Loma Linda DPt students.

Loma Linda wants you to go to their church once a week. It's a requirement.
That's probably the only thing that stands out there. Maybe it's worth of checking housing prices in each area and base your decision on that.

How late did you apply to the 2020 cohort for Azusa? I just found out today that their rolling admission is not just July-October but rather Nov-May+ Jul-Oct so now I'm wondering if applying early August (when my final grades from summer are out) is too late for the 2021 cohort since that's 3/4 of the way through the application period.

I didn't apply for APU's 2020 cohort. I applied for 2019's cohort and was rejected. They had an option to roll over my application to next year. I'm not quite sure how their admission process goes. But I would say its better to try than to not try!

This.
APU does not require their Pt students to attend church.
If you want to be required to go, the choose LLU.
I have nothing against church but making it a requirement does not sit well with me.

I am biased as I graduated from APU.
In my time there, during my rotations, several clinicians I worked with said they really enjoyed having APU students as they were always among the better prepared students. I think LLU has a similar teaching style in terms of conducting an orthopedic examination, but I would hate being required to go to church when that time could be dedicated to doing literally anything else you WANT to do; study, nap, workout, eat, whatever. I think the schools are not officially affiliated but I know some professors teach at both programs. Haven't anything negative from LLU curriculum wise, I just really dont like the idea of being in a graduate program and being required to do something that literally has nothing to do with your profession.

I’m currently a student at APU and I applied around August and had an interview early September and was accepted. So it depends more of how many students they accepted the first round and how many spots still open the second round. But I’d say still go for it, it’s an amazing program and the professors and faculty are great!
