Opinions hearsay and conjecture welcome 🙂 Just looking for other views and all your personal knowledge about the programs. When you vote give a reason ie clinical strength, great professors, options, your grandma went there, etc. Thanks!

Well Loma Linda and ASDOH both have large numbers of SDA students (Mesa is the largest Mormon community outside of Utah (this stat could have changed since I read it about a year ago)). Don't know if that's important or not.

Loma Linda has the best weather of the 3 if you like SoCal weather.

I'd go UNLV if you're from Nevada or WICHE based on price. If price isn't an issue, I'd go wherever family is closest

I love ASDOH... Modular program, clinically amazing, optional dual MPH, awesome dean, and the students are happy and low stress.

There are a lot of Mormons (not to be confused with SDA) in Mesa. However, there is not a crazy amount in the ASDOH classes themselves. ASDOH is private and has no affiliation to any religion or state preference.

Although the school is located in the suburbs. There is plenty to do in scottsdale, tempe, and lots of outdoor stuff.

If you have any questions about ASDOH, Mesa, or costs of living... shoot me a PM.

My bad. Didn't know the difference between SDA and LDA.

Any thoughts as to which is the "better" school, more opportunity, etc?

Every school has it's pros and cons. You can't just say one is really better then the other unless it's something ridiculous like Harvard vs LECOM. All the schools you listed are solid choices.

You went on an interview for a reason. Which did you like better?

I definitely agree, thanks. I'm just looking for more information from people with other/more experience because my interview at Loma Linda was a little different. I was the only one that day and I only met with one person. I didn't meet the dean or any other professors and my tour of the school was cut short because the student was running low on time. So it was pretty much a 30 min interview and 15 min tour and then me harrassing students as they walked in and out for an hour. I really liked what I saw but just wondered what current students there/ other interviewees thought from both schools. Thanks for the input!

ASDOH has modular learning (less stress!), no lack of patients, and very well-designed rotations that will make you more steady of hand. They track how many patients you see per day and your production in dollars. Phoenix is also very cheap to live in! Not a bad program at all. I turned them down simply because the move was too big 🙁

Loma Linda and UNLV are located in better cities IMO. Mesa is kinda boring, no offense to anyone. The school's located in suburbia pretty much. Nothing wrong with the school, I just don't really care for the location.

I didn't get a great vibe either. Also, the class is on the average a bit older and bit more married/families than other schools. But, you're a dental student, not a party animal anymore!

Doesn't LLU ask you to explain yourself if you drink/smoke on the secondary? So UNLV if you want to party more?

Ya it's definitely in the suburbs, in fact all of metro Phoenix is a giant suburb. We might have 10 skyscrapers downtown.... but thats it. So if you are coming from a large city, you will not get that feeling anywhere.

However, there is a lot to do in the Mesa area. If you like to party Scottsdale and Tempe are both 20 minutes away from the school, with all the bars and clubs you want (remember ASU is in Tempe). There is also a ton of lakes for wakeboarding/jetsking and lots of areas to hike. We also have every major sports team if you like going to games, tailgating, or watching it at a bar. I have lived here for most of my life and have never had a lack of things to do.
