So, I'm a guy.. and as the title suggests I have long hair. I grew it out for the last 3 years and it must be down to about my shoulder blades. I've contemplated either putting it in a ponytail or tying it into a bun, but if it means getting into dental school... I'm more than willing to slice it off.

So, guys and girls, what do you think - will long hair be seen as unprofessional on a guy these days, at least for my interviewing purposes???

I'm a guy with long hair too. Really don't wanna chop it off since it took so long to grow.

I'm a bit biased since I've always rocked a crew cut, so I would personally trim it and play it safe. You never know if you might get an interviewer who feels that it's unprofessional. Kind of like the whole beard vs. clean shaven debate.

If you really like the look though, chances are it wont be a big deal if it's not unkempt. It's probably a pretty small risk.

Tie it into low pony tail with a tie, which matches your hair color. Tame fly aways with some product and you will be fine. People are used to long hair and beards on guys now. Bun is a little out there still

As long as it looks professional long hair will be fine. However, do realize that many dental schools have "old school" or ex-military guys who will may up interviewing you and while your hair won't count against you, it certainly won't help with some faculty. Unfortunately many people (including dental school patients) definitely still judge a book by its cover.

Grow up and get a hair cut. Effin millennials...
No need to be effin the whole millennials for a person with long hair.
And how do you know this person belong to the millennials?
What if he's a baby boomer that has a change of heart?
What if he used to be a rock star so he has his hair long to whip it back and forth?
