Hi there,

I'll start with my stats. I have a 3.5 GPA/sGPA. DAT is as follows, worried about PAT still:

22 AA
22 TS
17 PAT
23 RC
20 Bio
24 OC
24 GC
21 QR

126 hours shadowing with 103 at a public health clinic.
About 100 volunteer hours with 53 being done at a specific Homeless shelter.
Inducted into Pre-Dental Club, Biology Honors Club. Member of a Hip-Hop Club

I decided to take the gap year due to a peer in the Dental Club advising me to not apply because I was taking my DAT end of summer. Will just work full-time and plan to volunteer more because I enjoy it and possibly shadow some more as well.

Will work on PS whole month of May after graduation. My last LoR should be in before the semester is over, according to the professor. I do not feel they are super strong, but I sort of have a good feeling about my letters. I guess we shall label them as par.

My super long list. I am a Florida Resident. Will be applying to HPSP so cost will not matter. I feel I am a very strong interviewer as well:

Top picks would have to be

Louisville (really liked the Dean's presentation at the Dental Club)
Columbia (Stretch?)
Florida

Here are the rest:

San Antonio (Grandfather works there, whole family is from Texas. I know about the OOS situation)
PENN
Maryland (some family up here)
VCU
UAB (liked Dean's presentation)
MWU-AZ
UNLV
MWU-Illinois
Michigan
Detroit
Temple
Rutgers
Tufts
Boston
Pitt
Marquette
Roseman
NOVA
LECOM
NYU
AT Still?

I know it is a super long list but I want to be a sure-shot in for my first time applying. I have been around these forums a while so I compared my stats to others and compiled this list, also while looking in the ADEA guide.

Thank you all for reading and your help.

I forgot to mention that AT Still requires a substantial amount of volunteer work, which unfortunately you do not possess.

Your call.

Ahh, I had a feeling in the back of my mind that that is what I read somewhere. I couldn't seem to get my search keywords to match it.

Thank you for the insight!

How many are you trying to trim it down to? I'm in the process of trimming as well. My 2 cents on schools I know about:

Rutgers takes very few OOS students (unless last year's guide was an anomaly)
VCU requires 150 hours of shadowing

Shucks, I might just try to get ~20 more hours so I can qualify for VCU.

Rutgers had 90 seats with 22 being out of state, so that is about 25% out of state. I believe I threw them on my list because I saw someone with similar stats interview there, but they are definitely one I can throw out! Thanks
