Hi guys, I know this is a great problem to have, but I just got off the waitlist at Baylor COM, which was always my top choice. However, my husband and I had already settled on moving to San Antonio in a couple of months. I also received a full tuition scholarship to UTHSCA Long School of Medicine this week. For the record, I am interested in competitive specialties such as ophthalmology and urology.

UTHSCA Long School of Medicine

Pros:
  • Full tuition scholarship!
  • Similar cost of living to the city I currently live
  • Husband excited and on board (but has not found a job yet)
  • Am supposed to start dual MD/MPH program next week
Cons:
  • Less research opportunities
  • Weaker match list in regards to competitive specialties
  • No hospital in San Antonio that particularly excites me
Baylor COM

Pros:
  • Decent tuition for a private school
  • Better reputation
  • More research opportunities
  • Texas Medical Center
Cons:
  • Higher cost of living than San Antonio
  • Would have to convince husband to change course right now
  • No scholarship= more debt
  • Unsure about global health opportunities available
  • I've heard San Antonio is prettier than Houston?
