Hey everyone, not sure if anyone remembers me. I've been pretty busy lately studying and preparing for the GRE.

As a matter of fact, I just took my GRE this morning and scored a 1300 (Q: 670, V: 630).

So, I figured I'd get some of your opinions on my chances at getting accepted into vet school. Here are my stats:

GRE: 1300 (Q:670, V:630)
Cumulative GPA: 3.54
Science GPA: ~3.8
Veterinary Experience: ~1000 hours (and growing)
Research Experience: ~176 hours
Volunteer Experience: ~21 (I would have liked more, but no time!)

I am applying to UGA (taking GRE Biology in October), Auburn, and Mississippi State (WV's 3 contract schools). How competitive do you all think I'll be?

Hey, as Nyanko lovingly pointed out as a technicality in some ancient thread, Oklahoma is actually classified as 'the South.' I was surprised too! But, we're real nice, we say 'y'all' and 'I reckon,' and we drink sweet tea all the damn time. So we're kinda like the South.

I guarantee you'd like it here. 😉

No pressure though. (I just want SDN'ers as classmates! Everyone else gets to have fun, but no one likes Oklahoma, so I'm all by myself here. Lol.)

When my parents first moved there (near McAlister, south of Tulsa) from north Louisiana we were very surprised to find restaurants that didn't have sweet tea! In Louisiana you would have to specify un-sweet tea, not request sweet tea like in Oklahoma. And I would consider Oklahoma the South just not the Deep South.

And I am applying to Oklahoma State! I just don't comment very much for you to know me!

Does Oklahoma allow students to establish residency after the first year? If so I may seriously consider applying. Unfortunately, I went to their website and wasn't able to download the supplemental application. The website kept timing out on me. 🙁

Edit: Looks like their whole website is having issues right now. I'll try again tomorrow.

Yeah, it's being a pain today. It's because I was going to go ahead and do the supp thing... I break everything. Lol. Just my luck.

It's only an address and a $35 fee, if you didn't know. No essays.

No residency (unless you wanna get married to an Okie, lol). Our OOS tuition is cheaper than most, but you'd have to decide if you're interested in that.

I know, you have to know where to go to get the good sweet tea. Otherwise, I end to use Sweet & Low. Gross, I know. It's the pseudo-south I guess. Haha.

Funnily enough, I use sweet and low in my tea by choice. 🙂

I'll take a closer look at Oklahoma's vet school, but since residency isn't an option it will probably be a school I apply to next year if I don't get in this year.

Fair enough. That's what I'm doing with OOS schools at this point - holding off a year. I hope I don' have to apply anywhere OOS so I wish the same for you (your contract states, I mean). So, good luck! Let me know if you want to do some PS swappin' or want a better idea of what's on the bio GRE, etc. 🙂

Oh, and I have a friend that orders the unsweet tea at McAlister's and then adds like 3 packets of S&L. Why, why? Lol.

I grew up in the south but my parents didn't allow us to have sugar, so I always used S&L. Now I like the flavor more than sugar for my sweet tea, weirdly enough.
