I was wondering if schools look at the scores of the sections from different DAT testing dates? A better way to put it is if i got a 23 on RC on a DAT exam I took in 8/2005, and then retook the DAT to get a 19 on the RC, do they take into account the "23" or just look at the most recent score???

😕

yup, they will. They can see all the dat scores you've taken previously, so don't take it again unless you're sure you can do better!

?

did you mean yup to them looking at the most recent score, or to looking at each section???

It's not like the SAT where schools mix and match to make your best score. They do look at every time you took the DAT, but each is seperate from the other.

I believe they look only at the most recent scores

if you get a chance to interview and look at the application the schools have for you you'll see that some of them (maybe all) have your overall DAT records. however, one admissions advisor told me that if i took the DAT over then they would see both scores but only consider the higher score in each category. i don't know if all schools do that though.

it varies from school to school. call the specific schools you are applying to.

I applied to 19 schools, had the same exact question as you, and the 2 answers I got were the following:

1) we only look at the test scores from the date that yielded the higgest AA andTS

or

2) we only look at the most recent

No one I spoke to would look at the multiple testing dates and pick the best score in each area... that would be too easy... and nice.

Whether they actually "look" at both sets of scores or not, I don't know. But they do see both sets of scores because when you request your DAT scores to be sent, the ADA sends the results from something like the four most test dates (of course less if you haven't taken it 4 times).

Even if a school looks at the highest score in each category, if you do worse on your DAT the second time around, it could hurt you. Schools usually want to see improvement when you retake it.
