Hello there,

I am a 17 year old high school student graduating a year early from high school. My grades were never really the best, but my senior GPA is a 3.9. I've really pulled it together after I knew what I truly wanted to do.

I'm seriously interested in emergency medicine, and I know.... It will probably change during med school. I've heard that all around.

Some of my current activities are: volunteering with paramedics, volunteering in the emergency room, and also volunteering as a counselor.

I'd like to get a chance to talk with a few doctors via pm on the site, I figured this was the best place to do so.

If someone could contact me that would be awesome, thank you in advance.

Try to contact EM doctors in your area and ask if they would let you, as a high school student, observe and shadow. Some doctors may let you although from experience, most doctors prefer pre-med students who are in college. Why not ask your volunteer director at the hospital about possible shadowing available in the hospital or possible internships offered to high school/college pre medical students.

Volunteering in the emergency room has allowed me to do so. There isn't always stuff to do, so when there is avaliable time I talk with the doctors and observe. They typically only allow pre-med college students in, but because I volunteered before the hospital. My volunteering lady allowed me to start doing it there. 🙂
