I have already graduated from undergraduate with a science gpa of 3.38 and nonscience on 3.6. My dat scores are AA:19 PA:19 TS:18. I also have 100+ hours of shadowing in two specialties as well as small town and large town dentist and a dental lab. I have 6 months of full time medical research as well as social chair of my fraternity, foreign term, 4 years of lacrosse, an average amount of volunteering, and BBB national biological honors society member. I am faced with a second rejection and was wondering what schools would be the best fit as well as any ideas on how to better my app? Any help is appreciated.

im no expert on this because im still praying for admission. however, i will say apply to schools with large seats and private institutions

Wow I'm surprised you haven't gotten in anywhere. I guess the DAT is your only big thing to do here, as said. What schools did you apply to?

Oh, and just to clarify, "2nd rejection" means 2nd cycle, not 2 schools rejected you this year, right?

I am an Iowa resident so I only applied there, both years, since I would be getting a lower tuiton for residency and also the acceptance rate for residents is almost 50%, however, now I am forced to look elsewhere. I haven't officially gotten the rejection letter yet for this application year but I've been told there is not much room left by the admission advisor so chances are slim. If anyone knows of good schools to apply to that would fit my application profile it would be greatly appreciated.

As mentioned, you may want to retake the DAT. Your stats right now give you a chance to get in somewhere, but they are somewhat average. Definitely, apply to more schools. Keep Iowa as your top choice, but you can't put all your eggs in one basket. Apply to large private schools that accept a lot of out of staters. NYU, USC, Boston, Tufts, and Temple would all be good schools to apply to. I've have some friends that loved Louisville and they also have a large class. Other possibilities may be Pitt, Western, Midwestern.

You need to add on several more schools though. I wouldn't apply to less than 8 and I would consider up to 15, especially since you've already fallen 2 years behind now.
