My gpa is right around a 2.9 and my mcats is also not so hot being about a 25.. now i realize that my chances of getting into medical school are not so great even being a urm and a disadvantage applicant.

So I'm looking into applying for SMP and URM programs to raise my chances of eventually getting in, but i've noticed that some of them require that you first apply for the medical school before u can apply for these programs. So my question what are my chances of getting into these programs? And so i'm basically only applying for med schools this semester to open up the possible programs I can apply to.. could this end up hurting my application? Thanks

I think you should repost this in the "What Are My Chances?" section.

I wish you luck.

Go to the AAMC site and do a search on that site for postbaccalaureate programs. That site has just about every program listed by category and state. You can even find contact information for these programs.

Unless you have a pile of money lying around, applying to medical school is an expensive endeavor especially if you consider yourself disadvantaged. You would likely be better off saving that money for school costs since you know that you are likely going to end up in a SMP.

The number of SMPs that requre application to medical school as a pre-req, is likely to be low. Check out the AAMC website before you spend a huge amount of money that you are going to need in the future.
