Hoping some people who have visited the schools or have a better feel for the schools than I do can give me some insight into the schools and what they're like. Hoping to apply to around 10 schools because I assume I won't be accepted or interviewed by them all, and don't want to overload myself by applying to too many. GPA is 3.447 and sGPA is 3.275 though I've received 3.67, 3.69, 3.85 since I decided to go Dental. AA-22, PAT-AA, TS-21, QR at 19, rest are 21+. 100+ shadowing hours, good EC and research. Ohio resident and both parents are Dentists (Dad is ortho) and went to Case so I have a lot of exposure to the profession.
List: UCSF, Mich, UPenn, Case, UMD, BU, Tufts, UConn, IU, UK, Louisville, Temple, OSU.
I'm leaning towards dropping Tufts because of its massive class size, and UK. Want to go to a school that will get me in the clinic as early as possible and somewhere that won't be difficult to get patients and prefer to have an assigned operatory. Also prefer a school that is technologically up to date, and will expose me to advanced methods. The first three are sort of my stretches as I see it. I know UCSF isn't very OOS, I'm afraid Mich will be difficult to find a lot of patients at bc Ann Arbor isn't very large. Don't plan to do research after school or anything so I'm not as interested in a school that stresses that especially is UPenn like that? Really interested to hear insight on the last six because the next 1 or 2 I cut probably will come from there.
Really would appreciate anyone's input on schools that seem like a good fit or that don't.
