Hello, so I am currently 20 years old. I am in infantryman in the U.S. Army. I've done a combat tour of Iraq and Afghanistan. When I get out of the Army I want to become a doctor. More specifically a surgeon. Despite being an extremely smart person. (34 on my ACT) I slacked off HARD in high school. I was wondering what approach would be best suited for me to get into medical school. I've learned a lot and I am ready to work my ass off for it, but I want to give myself the best chances, and the best opportunities. I've done a lot of research, and what I think I will do is while I am in the Army I will get my Paramedic certification then get out and start applying to good colleges. Again my goal is to get into the best college I can to set myself up for success. My thinking is that if I do good while getting my paramedic cert, and with me being in the army and doing what I've done overseas I would be a shoe-in for a good college, then eventually medical school. Anyways, any thoughts anyone has or suggestions would be greatly welcomed. Thanks!
