Any feedback, opinions, and alternatives are welcome.
Very interested in going the DO route.
Local CA resident

I finished my B.S. in Biological Sciences at a top UC school with a 3.05 GPA and a decent upward trend after my sophomore year. (AMCAS: 2.96/BCPM: 2.87)
Freshmen: 2.93
Sophomore: 2.33 (ran into some personal issues that lasted til my junior year)
Junior: 3.1
Senior: 3.5

Currently doing a DIY Post Bacc at a University level where I am currently averaging a 3.7 after 20 units doing some retakes. I am looking to take at least another 20 units averaging 3.5-3.7 and bringing my cGPA to more or less a 3.1.

I am looking into the MCAT and I am aiming for a 505+ at the minimum. Aiming to take it sometime before summer of 2019 in time for that cycle.

EC's by that time
Volunteering at a local hospital: > 200 hours
Undergraduate Research in Surgical Research: > 700 hours (not published)
Hospice Volunteer Coordinator: 2 years
ER Doctor Shadowing: > 50 hours
Urgent Care Scribe (just started) : aiming for >1000 hours

Just want to get people thoughts on this plan? Any other alternatives and/or suggestions.
Appreciate you all for your time!

What did you retake and why? Do you want to stay in CA? Don't worry about the MCAT right now and focus on getting As in your courses

With a solid MCAT I think you have a shot at some of the newer DO schools. MCAT is gonna make or break your app.

Make sure to get that GPA over 3.0 along with a good MCAT. An SMP would help even more when you're done with everything.

Continue to be successful and you'll be fine for all DO schools.

If you are interested in the DO route, look to find a DO who practices OMT and see if you can shadow them if you haven’t already. Even a small amount of exposure will help a lot when applying DO
