Hey,

I interviewed at UDM on December 6th. The experience was very relaxed. Basically it starts off by a quick fitting of a white lab coat, and they ask you how you will want your name on it . They do this tog et you kind of excited and make you feel good. I thought that was nice. Then I met with my interviewer and we went up to her office. We talked there for about 45 mins I'd say. She asked no questions really. It was a complete conversation basically about whatever came up. She told me about herself, I asked her some questions, etc. She did the majority of the talking. So there's no formal questions like "why dentistry" or "why udm"...or at least I didn't haeve anything like that. After the convo, she gave me a tour and we talked some more and that completed the interview.

One thing though, and this is just my opinion, was that the coversation was clever. I found that though she did the majority of talking, I think she set up the topics at times to see what input I would add. For example, I found us on the topics of morals and ethics, and so I added to the coversation an ethical decision I had to make once. Just stuff like that, but nothing to formalized.

Anyways, hope this helps. Don't be nervous, it's a great experience.

thanks au, thats great info. the interview sounds like a pretty pleasant and casual. now i have 5 days do do something ethical 😛

I got a mail today saying "monthly update". Just wondering, isnt the class already full by now?? Or is that just my assumption coz i never read anyone mentioning UDM! Thanx

jamiemac and i got in about 2 weeks ago. they were scheduling interviews while i was there too. good luck!

did others get monthly updates recently as well? was it via mail or email? if you didn't get one does that mean it doesn't look good because last I called they said the next bit of news should be updates and they always send it to everyone they're still considering. Annyone else not get an update?

I know a guy who had an interview last week. Therefore, they may not be full...yet. Also, I had a conversation with someone from admissions prior to my interview, and she stated that they were pretty far behind in the process because of the move. I'm not sure if this is still the case.

jeezy...have you committed to Mercy, or are you holding out for another acceptance?

I was really impressed with Mercy and sent my deposit. I still have 1 interview coming up at my state school, so im not 1000% settled. If I get in both, I'll have a hard decision to make.

Have you been celebrating since you got the good news?

I was also extremely impressed...the new school is very nice and well equipped. As excited as I am to go, I am dreading the idea of commuting until my house sells (I'm 50 minutes + away). Therefore, my celebration was short lived. If my house sells prior to August, I'll probably celebrate somewhere nice for an entire week! Wish me luck...It goes on the market in two weeks...I'm not holding my breath though - this market sucks.

i recently spoke to the admissions and i asked them if they were going to be interviewing for awhile or if this is there last bunch. well my friends rest assure that they are not even close to being done. she told me that they will be interviewing until may. so i'm assuming that there's probably lots of acceptances and interviews to be delivered in the next little bit.

i just received an interview invite today, i thought id never hear from them!

I received an interview invite on Wednesday... for those who already went through with the interview at UDM, can you give me any advice??? I am extremely nervous about it!!! Thanks!

my interview started with tell me about your self? then was followed up with specific questions about my personal statement and course history. i was surprised that she took time to know my file.

it was a casual interview where the interviewer acted more as a counselor. why dentistry? manual dexterity? how will you pay? why UDM? why not your state school? were you accepted anywhere else?

So I just received my info in the mail for my interview. I told UDM that I would retake the DAT b/c I got a 17 AA, but that was in the September and I haven't retaken it and haven't studied at all for it. The update paper says suggest retaking it... if I don't retake the DAT do you think that automatically means they won't accept me???

It's hard to say whether or not they will accept you with the 17AA. Their average AA for last year's class was a 20. I would definitely schedule the interview...while there, express your desire to attend and willingness to do anything possible to make it happen (if this is the case). If you shine in the interview, they may not require you to retake. Then again, they may accept you contingent upon an improved DAT...or they may simply wait-list you. Right now the ball is in your court, and you must decide what you're going to do with it. How bad do you want to be a dentist?

Good luck!

Okay thanks for your advice. Did anyone interview with Dr. Grand by any chance???

Hey future little brothers and sisters! I know you are all dying to know this so here it is:

The Class of 2012 is still only half full!

They are taking 90 this year instead of the normal 78 since the new school has expanded a lot. Unfortunately this means our class (of 77--we lost one) is being forced to have our class size brought up to 90 also. So the first day of DS2 year in May we will have a bunch of new foreign trained dentists penetrate our little Class of 2011 family. But the more the merrier I guess.

Good luck!

Wow! Only 6 days away from March and still only 1/2 full...the move really did set them back. Did they raise this year's new class number to 90 from 87?

I got a mail today about the financial aid and who to contact. Anyone else?

Does anyone know wat it "could mean"? 🙂
