Hi all,

So, I have a letter of rec from my PI. For my uni, it was considered a "class" (Bio199 anyone?) and I received a letter grade every quarter. Would this be considered as a science LOR?

Thanks!

I think you could explain this on AMCAS, no?

Edit: That is, in the Letter of Evaluations section.

I've asked a couple med schools this, and they said as long as it shows up on your transcript then yes it's a science LOR.
May want to check in with each school you're sending it to though.

Does anyone else have experience with this? I've been calling medical schools and some of the answers have been vague, such as "use your discretion"

I don't but here are my thoughts: Do you have any letters from a professor that you can use in place of this letter? Would you think that those letters are just as strong? if so feel free to substitute it, if not just go with what you've got.

I do have other letters, but I know that they are not as strong as the letter from my PI. I don't want to run into any issues, so that's why I'm trying to see if anyone else knows more than I do about this. Thank you for your input! It's frustrating when admissions tells you it depends..

Also, wondering if anyone can give me some advice..

I'm scrambling to get a non-science LOR. I've emailed all of my past professors to sad responses. My music professor said no, saying that he cannot write letters for large lecture classes. My two writing classes were taught by TAs (one of which has a PhD now...so would this count?). My women's studies professor is no longer teaching at the school and so declined.

Should I try to push the women's studies LOR? She was my professor at some point
