So i completed all of my secondaries in early december...but two of my professors still haven't completed the LOR's!!!!! more than anything this is a vent. I'm also just wondering does this look bad that its been nearly a month and the schools still haven't gotten LOR's??? Thanks for any insights or similar stories...grrrr

LOR can suck! someone i asked for a letter last year, and i'm talking like last march, called me last week to ask a question about writing the letter. i was like WHAT?!?!?! i gave up on that one a looong time ago!

try to keep in close contact with the professors, and keep on them until you get the letters. it sucks, i am sure others will chime in with horror stories.

:luck:
good luck!

I actually got very lucky with my LOR's. I had 6 of them written and asked my writers last January giving them a deadline for last April (but really I told them they were due a few weeks before I really needed them). I gave them 4 months notice and each month I would write them an "update" email reminding them when I needed to turn them in to my schools premed committee. I had one procrastinator, but when the date came around I told her she had another 2 weeks so it was no big deal. It’s not hard to write a nice email that has a little reminder in it. Just ask how their semester has been, remind them of the date and then write a few sentences about how you appreciate them taking the time to recommend you and how you know they are busy and appreciate their kindness, blahblah. You get the point. Good Luck...

Same boat..complete at most schools except for this one letter..it is really starting to irk me..she is never in her office and rarely responds to e-mails..

any advice..?😡

i think im just going to have to suck it up, take a day off from the lab, and travel 4 hours to track down these proffs. maybe you can do the same?

hahaha...i myself have considered some sort of mission to obtain the letters quickly, quietly and efficiently...

Letters suck! I gave my prof regular updates and knew about it... 2 years later still doesn't write it, even when i make visits. Finally i get fed up and go to the school and just ended up groveling! Meant to be professional b/ i ended up sounding desperate... well it worked. The monday after I sat in next to her desk til she wrote the damn thang. Anyways, they are so busy and easily forget. Sometimes sitting in front of them FORCES them to make time to write it up. Letters don't take long for them to write. So be sure to show you face, worked for me!
