I'm a little confused about LOR deadlines. My professor wants a deadline to know when to write the letter by. If I'm submitting through the AADSAS application, does that mean they should submit the letter before I submit the application early June? Or will my application be processed regardless of whether or not the LORs have been submitted? Or do schools have their own deadlines, and if so, is there a compiled list of deadlines?

Thanks for the help!

Your application will be processed and mailed whether or not any of your LORs have been submitted. Letters received after initial mailing of main application will go out in subsequent batches. There is no specific deadline but you should aim to have your entire application complete as soon as you can as some schools will not review it until all parts have been received.

So when you say "you should aim to have your entire application complete as soon as you can," are you saying that it is better to have professors send in the LORs as soon as possible once the application opens?

It doesn't have to be submitted immediately (there isn't processing or verification) since you basically have all of June to still make the first batch and July is still considered early. I meant application completed at each school after mailing as some require all parts including letters to be received/processed before application review begins.

Give your profs a "soft" deadline of end of June. By all means, it's not the end of the world if they submit it after that, but let them know that early submission would increase your chances of admission, and that you would appreciate it.

It wouldn't hurt to say that you estimate that you need the letter by end of May. There's still plenty of time. I had professors who wrote me a letter within a week, yet some other professors still haven't gave me a letter even after 6 months (asked in august)! Some people are just procrastinators. Just give them enough time so they can feel comfortable enough to agree to write you a letter. I say 45 days is pretty good. If you can give them 60 days, that's even better. But like other people said, submitting your letters by July is still early.

Here's what I would say: The application opens at the beginning of June, and I would really like to submit by the end of June.

Send them the link to upload their letter to AADSAS as soon as the cycle opens. If they haven't submitted by June 24th-ish, send them a gentle reminder e-mail.
