Hi I am new to this sight and have been really impressed with the help that has been freely shared here. I just thought I should throw that out there but anyways to my question. I have a professor right now that I would love to get a LoR from. He is more than willing to do it but I am just trying to work out the logistics of how to store it till I apply. should I get an electronic copy and store it for a couple years on my computer and then upload if myself when I actually apply or what? Excuse my ignorance but I would love some help on how you fellas has done this in the past. Thanks-

On the AADSAS application, you input the professor's email and it sends them a link to upload the letter. You can't store it on your computer because you would have no way to upload it and it would no longer be confidential.

However, what you can do is either ask the professor in a couple of years to write it for you and upload directly to the AADSAS application OR you can purchase a multi-year interfolio subscription and have them upload the letter(s) to Interfolio. Interfolio will store the letter and when the AADSAS application opens, you tell Interfolio to "send" it to AADSAS.

You can store you letters on Interfolio but people usually just store it for a couple months. It's not recommended to use letters older than a year. Always ask your professors for LORs a couple months prior to the cycle.
