Would appreciate any input!

I can have my committee make a packet with my 3 letters and the writer, who was my histo profess for a total of 4 writers

I can send in a 5th letter for entry into the committee letter from my thesis mentor, but he mentions my SMP school in it by name and doesn't go into any detail about my scholarly potential besides what's obvious on my primary

Or I can get a letter from the preceptor under whom I'm doing a hospital observership. Really fantastic clinical exposure, LOTS of patient interaction. This would be by the end of the week, and would delay my committee letter, so it would probably get to AMCAS 10 days or so from now

I'm worried about being late to the completed app party. Should I get the preceptor letter and wait or ask that the packet be compiled ASAP?

Try for the thesis mentor? maybe he says more than you'd think. why's mentioning your SMP school a problem?

It's his alma mater, and he really wants me to go there (which I would love to) but I think it might be a bit gauche if other schools read it

but does he say you should only go there in the letter? if he is just gushing about your SMP school i don't get why that's a probs

Guess he didn't, just sounded a bit "focused". Also wondering if having a completed app by Aug 1 would be a bit late?

You're overthinking it, Ilya. Your Buckeye professor is not going to sabotage your app because he wants you to go to Ohio State. I'm guessing he's a Buckeye because that sounds like something they would do.

Hah nope, east coast. He never mentions being a thesis mentor either, so it can come off as a friend writing it. Not sure whether to keep or not
