Hello!
I'm going to meet up with my professor before he officially writes my LOR so he can get to know me better. The thing is I'm so socially awkward so I'm really nervous. Have any of you guys done this and what was the experience like?

Thank you

If it helps, write out a little resume of the things you've done and accomplished... Like volunteer work, research, awards, maybe include your personal statement, your transcripts/grades, your hobbies, your goals. Just things your professor can physically have something to refer to when writing your letter. Other than that, just take a deep breath and be you. And ask questions. Seem like you're interested in the conversation and engage. I'm sure you'll do great! Best of luck

Thank you!
Yeah I've been trying to work on my personal statement but I keep getting stuck. I will provide him with a resume and draft of my personal statement. Is it to my disadvantage if I don't provide a transcript? I've aced his classes but my overall gpa isn't good. I just don't like talking about myself

I would imagine that he wants to use this dinner to see if you are well spoken, personable, etc! It's just like the interviews at schools. They can see on paper how great you are academically or everything you've been involved with. Meeting in person is used to get to know you on a deeper level. A lot of people are uncomfortable talking about themselves, but at least in my experience the interview was more of a casual chat! I would expect something similar with your dinner! Don't stress too much about it, just be yourself!

Have a few drinks and a buy a few more for your guest. Kidding!

(Kind of…)
