I’m getting a LOR from an ADCOM from my SMP. Could this be more advantageous for admission?

I think it would be a good letter to have, especially since your performance in the SMP was excellent.
I know some of the SMP directors (Boston University for one example) offer to do this for their students.

There's no reason why you shouldn't. Recusal rules will come into play when your file is discussed.
