So to keep the story short, I am in my senior year and I was never a part of the "pre- professional health club" at my University due to the fact that I was an health science major so I never got swayed in that direction. Then while doing a research project with a professor, I got an article written up on me and the study by the local paper that stated I was pursuing medicine. So the head of the club reached out to me and was annoyed that I was not a part of the club, and so I joined the club (this is my last semester so that seems kind of useless). The head then claimed that medical schools strongly prefer committee letters over individual since they can pull a lot more weight. During my undergraduate program, I believe I have established very strong connections, which will lead to about 5 STRONG letters from professors, football coach, doctors, etc. So I was just curious if committee letters actually do look that much better than individual letters? I feel as though a committee letter would be bland and very cookie cutter and bland, while individual letters will look better (however I could be way off). I am just wondering cause it seems like whatever my decision is, it could have a pretty significant impact on my app.
Thanks!
