How do you ask a Doctor to write a LOR for you, knowing his busy lifestyle.
Thanks

i brought up applications/secondaries just to feel out the dr. i was shadowing, and he immediately offered to write a letter for me. he has a practice, and hes director of a research institute, so he is really busy.
just bring it up, maybe youll get lucky like i did. if not, ask anyway, but give him lots of time to do it.

I said, "Would you feel comfortable writing a letter for me?" And then followed up with a packet... cover letter, PS, and resume. He had his letter done and shipped off before any of my university letter writers!!! No wonder he's so successful, he's incredibly organized and his secretary kicks a$$!!!!

I asked two physicians to write me letters, one from an attending at a clinic I volunteer at and the other from my PI who is a physician investigator. Best way is to give them ample time to turn it in, so that they don't feel rush and have the time to write a good letter.

one doctor i worked with when i volunteered this summer brought it up on his own and offered to write me a LOR if i wanted him too.

and the one i shadowed for a couple of years handed me an awesome letter and asked me where i wanted him to send it; of course i wasn't going to refuse either one
