I had a humanities class completely taught by a graduate student at the time. He has since attained his PhD and now has an adjunct professor position at my school; would it be sufficient to get a letter from him? Or does this need to be cosigned by someone who is an established faculty? Could @Goro or @LizzyM comment perhaps? Thanks so much! Applying to MSTPs if that matters.

My understanding is that any LOR from a TA needs to be co-signed by the course director.

Hm, I guess this situation is weird since he wasn't a TA. He was listen as the course director and the only lecture based instructor for the course, and I had a separate graduate student as a TA for discussions. I'll see if he can perhaps co-sign with another prof.

Then he might be OK.

If he simply says “XYZ was a student in my ABC class” on current letter head, I doubt anyone will care or look any further into it.

The question was whether it is ok to get that person could write the LoR.

My post answered the question. He's now a professor at the school and no longer a graduate student. My transcript doesn't list professor names, and if the letter is silent no one will take the time to find out. So yes, I think he's fine.
