Hi all,

I'm getting ready to apply this June and have my letters ready in interfolio. I have 1 science, 2 non-science, and 2 from activities. My question pertains to schools that explicitly want two science ones. For the other science letter, should I pick:
A) the letter that was written a year ago by my prof (PhD) which i think will be so-so
B) the letter that was written this year by my TA (has a masters) which I know will be better than letter A.

Basically what I'm asking is: are letters from TAs ok?

Generally when it is designated a "science" letter, it is referring to a science faculty member letter (i.e. professors). So I would go with option A, letters from TAs do not carry the same weight as a letter from a professor.

Ah I see :/ I'm working on another possible letter from one of my other instructors (PhD) which I know will be good. She's agreed to write it a couple of months ago, but now she's not emailing back. Hopefully that will pan out then this problem will be solved.

The letters just need to be done by July-ish, so there is plenty of time. I don't think a single one of my letters were written before May when our semester ended. I'm sure it will turn out alright for you.
