I get really stressed out about the LOR's because I haven't built strong relationships with any professors. My issue is that I have been taking classes at multiple CC's because I have to work full time so I have to find classes that work with my work schedule. What is the best way for me to approach this? I will be transferring to a university soon should I wait till then? Lastly I wanted to get some input on getting a LOR from a high ranking person in the military. I have known this person nearly my whole life he was just promoted to LTC. and was part of the reason I joined the military to begin with. Would this be a good idea and would it look good for my application? This person can write me an exceptional LOR being that I have known him so long. Thank you for any input.

Assuming you have 2 more years after transferring to university, you have the option of waiting until then to get stronger academic letters. If you haven't built strong relationships with your CC professors, I'd advise against you getting one from them. The last thing you need is a fluff/generic letter. I could be wrong on this, but I don't think schools require a LOR from every institution you attend unless it was graduate school. A committee letter should suffice. In the future, try to be more proactive and attend office hours to get to know them. If you do well in a class, ask if you can TA for the professor. Being a TA almost certainly guarantees a good letter for academics and character.

Military is good life experience and if this person can write you a LOR, just make sure that you have worked with this person before so he can really vouch for your individual merits.
