LOR mistake

Wow, sorry about that. Never heard of that happening before. Did you not give your professor a resume, or your personal statement, or something that said you were applying to dental school. I don't know how he could have made such a mistake, unless he's writing tons of recs and just got mixed up. I guess just have him write a letter explaining the mistake and send it to all the schools. I don't think the schools would have anything against you b/c you did nothing wrong.

lol don't worry, my prof recommended me for medical school instead of dental school too and it turned out okay for me =).

Hey, it not like you wrote it in your ps.... I think schools will understand that amoung the hundreds of letters the professor wrote he just mistyped and didnt check the grade (both are his errors). So dont stress it buddy... but a letter from him to clarify for the schools might be a good idea.

Actually, if all he has is "medical school" in just that one spot, it could be argued that it wasn't a mistake at all. We commonly specifiy dental school, although really dental is a specific word for a specific type of medical science.

Hey i think u'll be fine! My prehealth adviser told me that one or two letters recommending the student for med school is fine.. even though u're applying for dental school. Dental schools take in consideration that some of the rec letters might be compiled over the 4 years in your undergrad study.. and u might have decided dentistry a little later (ex: the first 2 years u were premed.. therefore the letters specified med school instead).

However, I agree that it's best to have him write a letter explaining too.. it's so unfair to u especially what i said does not specifically fit in your circumstance.. :\. Sometimes i wish these professors or the person writing understand how important these letters are.. 🙁 and put a little extra effort into them.. Good luck!!

I bet dental schools receive stuff like this alot. It is not ur fault therefore the school won't hold anything against but the professor. I am still waiting for my letter from a professor also and I hope its not like that. Ive been waiting for 3 months already....so...

So I had one of my profs who took four months to write me a letter finally submit my evaluation electronically so it would get to aadsas faster since I had already submitted my application. Last night he emails me that he has submitted it and I can take a look at it now that it has been sent. What do I see immediately. He recommended me for medical school instead of dental school and he said I received a 3.5 in his class when I received a 3.7!! Apparenlty aadsas won't let profs re-edit letters either. What do I do?! Aadsas told me to have the professor mail out new ones with explanation to all the school. I applied to eleven schools!!🙁

Do you guys think this will be used against me by schools. Now I feel like they might think I didn't know the professor well enough when I did. This professor totally messed up my application. I'm so mad at him 😡

Are you sure he wrote it about you, and not someone else? 😕

I'm really sorry to hear that. But I wouldn't worry about it too much. One letter will not hurt. I'm sure there have been crazy other incidences. And at least he wrote highly of you.

Don't worry. Your grades and DAT scores are far more important than a prof making a mistake. It's not in your hands. You've done your part.

Good luck! 👍

Lol, don't worry, at least he didn't spell your LAST NAME wrong!!

And the same prof that spelled my name wrong had actually made the same mistake in an earlier draft which the letter service at my school caught and notified him to change. Then he sends in another draft and spells my name wrong. Aaaand then he goes on vacay for a month, so I had to go ahead and submit that one. Lol, but I don't think its a big deal. These are just minor mistakes, and I hope adcoms understand that as well.

all of these problems just makes you wonder if they just used a letter that they wrote for somebody else and gave it to you

haha ...i am laughing at the system and not at you..it really sucks for you but i know exactly what happened here..i bet the professor has a common draft that he uses for all of his LORs and he has "medical school" in there. so he just forgot to change that to dental school when he copied and pasted

But like others before said, dental school is a medical school so its not a do or die situation.
:xf: I hope your professor returns your emails or phone calls and you get this thing corrected. good luck:xf:
