No advice, I just feel your pain 🙁

No, submit primary now. Your LOR is only necessary when you send out secondaries, and by the time you get your primary verified, get some secondaries, fill them out, he'll have it finished. And even if this happens before he finishes, just send out his LOR when he's ready.

First, relax.

Ok, you can submit the primary application whenever you are ready, it doesn't require LOR's.

And you can submit secondaries w/o LOR's also, they're not tied together. Your application will not be complete until the LORs come in, but you can still submit this stuff and get the ball rolling.

EDIT: Beaten to it.

First of all...

Why didnt you ask 2 months earlier?

Second of all, the others are right in that you can do everything and then in August, submit all your letters at the same time to complete your application...it takes plenty of time to do secondaries so just do those while you wait for your letter.

Just to add to everyone else: You have nothing to worry about! The whole point of getting your primary application out in June is so that you get ahead of everyone else with regards to verification. Once that is done, you get all your secondaries, fill them out, and get everything out by August. The last piece of the puzzle is the LORs.

An application to any particular medical school consists of 3 parts...

1. Primary AMCAS application
2. Secondary Application from that particular school, plus a donation to the school's coffers in the form of a ~$75-100 check.
3. LORs (or pre-med committee letter/packet)

Once the school receives all three of those, you are considered "complete" at that school and they will then take a look at your application for possible interview. If your LOR shows up in August, or even in early September you are doing just fine. Relax! But, make sure that you stay on top of him in August to make sure he doesn't slip and send it out in October. :luck::luck::luck:

i've asked him in MAY... right after my final grades are out......but then he just told me yesterday that it's going to be aug be4 i can get the letter....🙁

anyway... thanks for all your advice

Yeah, it's a mild inconvenience, but send your primary ASAP

Offer to write it for him 😀 Seriously I've heard of some letter writers asking the student to write it and then they modify it; it's worth a try.

What's the big deal? My undergrad's premed committee holds its committee letter (and most of the LOR's) for all of its applicants until August 14th and not a day earlier. They've asked all the med schools and not one considered August 14th to be "late."
