I want to get an LOR from my Anatomy professor and Exercise Physiology professor but both are under the Health Education department, not Biology. Is this OK?

Does one LOR have to be from a dentist? Is it OK if a family member writes an LOR? He is a practicing dentist and I did shadow under him for a summer.

Exactly how many LOR's do I need and from who?

Not related but is a Calculus II or Statistics course a pre-requisite for all dental schools?

Sorry for the barrage of questions. Thanks for the help. 🙂

It's preferred LORs come from the Biology department, but A&P is very Biology based, so you're fine there. Check on AADSAS's website to see what each one of the schools you want to apply to require as far as LORs. I know the ones I applied to through TMDSAS wanted one from a dentist, and 2 from professors, and then when I looked the schools up on AADSAS, san antonio didn't require a dentist LOR, so it just depends. Do a little research and you'll figure it out.

I wouldn't get a LOR from a family member, even if they are a dentist. Chances are, if they know you're related to them they won't even read it, I wouldn't anyways, too much of a chance for a biased opinion.

Each school has similar, but possibly different pre-reqs, check on their websites...should tell you what they require. I know I took Calc 1, and that wasn't required, however it did count toward my science GPA (D'OH!)
