Hey, everyone! Had a quick question on LoRs...
So, as a Texas resident going to a Texas school, I graduated in May 2012 with a BS in psychology, worked from 8/2012 to 5/2013 as a medical assistant for a dermatologist, and as of 6/2014, I'm currently enrolled in an MS program that helps in boosting one's stats.
I submitted 7/2012 for that particular cycle of med school, but didn't get any interviews. My letters were from 1) a physiology professor, 2) a literature grad student (who got her Ph.D mentor to sign off on it) and 3) a director of marketing from a major hospital.
I didn't start an application in 2013 for reasons I won't go into, but I was able to get another letter of recommendation from the dermatologist.
So now, it's 2014. And I'm going to complete TMDSAS and AACOMAS. I didn't really look at specific DO schools beforehand (besides TCOM, ofc), so as I'm looking at some schools like OU-HCOM and Nova, and these schools (and I'm sure a lot of other DO schools) need something like "letters of recommendation from either a premed committee OR two letters from natural science faculty who taught you in class."
Now, my physio professor and my grad student letter writers have since left the school, and I can't get in touch with them. I'm still able to get the letter from the director of market and that derm. So that's 2 non-faculty letters in my back pocket.
My advisory committee needs 3 letters to be able to construct a committee packet - but I just can't seem to get that elusive third letter, as letters have a one year expiration date.
Anyway, my question is this: have any of you been in the same position as I am in, currently? I guess I could call each individual school I'm interested that have this admission requirement, and see if I could get around it somehow, but I want to know if any SDN'ers have had this conundrum.
