Hi,
So I had applied to multiple specialties and as a result, I asked my LOR writers to write generic letters. Only one of them was specialty specific (psych). However, I had been reading on another thread that this is really bad to do. The writers were just private practitioners and not affiliated with a residency.
I have gotten interviews as I applied broadly and I'm not doing anythng competitive (FM, IM & Psych). I got more Psych interviews probably because Psychiatry was less competitive at the places I was applying.
Come to ranking, should I try to ask someone where I did my in-patient medicine or psych at (affiliated with residency) to write a letter of recommendation? Or is it not a big deal at this point.
I know this was not an excellent idea, but I was in such a panic around the application time as I had gotten a COMLEX fail in september. I have like 10+ interviews if that helps.
Thanks
