I already have 3 secured letters of recommendation - 2 from science professors & 1 from a DO. I have also held a home care position as a nurse for 6 years. Would a lor from my nursing supervisor be an asset, or unnecessary? opinions please - FYI I am applying both MD and DO. Don't know if that makes a difference. Thanks!!

Might as well. I collected a letter from an MD, a DO, my prof of epidimeilogy, science writing class, and genetics prof. Not sure if I'm going to send all out but I just got as many as I could and have them stored in Interfolio.

On another note, does anyone know if sending out 5 letters would be sensible or do schools limit the amount? I will probably be sending out both the MD and DO but as for the science, they are probably relatively similar. Would I just send out 1 or 2?

Cheers.

Thanks for the reply. I have the same questions as well.

Yes, there are limits on number of letters (5 for Acomas) and different schools have slight variations in requirements. Many take a committee OR two science professors and many DOs want a physician and some a DO specifically. From there is varies. Also many want official letter head and original signature (they won't take cursive type sig).
