Hey guys,

I have been working with this one doctor, and she will be leaving to another city (pretty far away from my town) after a year. I will be applying to medical school in 2006, and I wanted to get a LOR from her. Should I ask her for the letter of recommendation before she leaves or after? Would it be a problem if I submitted 2 years old LOR (supposing that the other two were recent)? I would appreciate any commend. Thank you.

Get it now and make sure you keep track of her. In two years, ask her to refresh it with a new date and her signature. That way she'll do the writing while you're still fresh in her mind, but you'll still have a recent date on the letter. If you don't think that'll work, just get the letter now. Asking someone who can barely remember you to write a letter would be a mistake.
