Is it true that Letters of recommendation need to have the students' AAMC ID# on them? If so, how do we get it on the letter, especially since they are confidential? I am collecting my letters via Interfolio. Is there any way I can attach a note with the letters from my professors with my AAMC ID on them? Thanks!

I asked my letter writers to include the number, but it was my understanding that if you are using interfolio, then interfolio attaches your ID number to the letters when they submit them. After you select which documents to distribute, at the bottom of the page there is a box to check and tell them to include your ID number.

That's right. You need to add an ID in your Interfolio account, this being your AMCAS ID.

Individual letter IDs are asked for each individual delivery and you can state them at the end of the Interfolio delivery process.

I completely forgot to tell my profs to put in my AMCAS # (had them send the letters directly to both AMCAS and Interfolio to speed things up) but they are marked as "received" on my AMCAS application. Does this mean it's cool that I didn't include my # on the letters, or will I run into problems once the letters get sent to individual schools?

I think you are good!
If they are verified on AMCAS, then they have identified the letter with your name and AMCAS ID Number! 🙂
