Hi, this is likely a repeat question, but I can't find any threads on it. So, is it OK to assign LOR's in AMCAS to schools you haven't received secondaries from? How does that thing even work? Do they send the LOR's to all assigned schools as soon as they receive and match them? Do they send them even before the primary application is verified?

Considering, that I assigned letters before my AMCAS was even verified, I think it is ok to assign them before you get the secondaries. I'm not sure at all how schools get them exactly, but I would imagine that they just request them from AMCAS when they want them.

Thanks for the response, but how about this: If I want to send a letter in later than the rest, after my secondary is complete at a school, what difference will it be for the school? Will the letter simply be added to my file, or will it be disregarded?

You can assign and submit the letters whenever you want. AMCAS will make all of your application, including letters, available to schools when you are verified. They will download the letters whenever they want.

Here's another question. Say if a school wants 3 letters and I assign 3 letters to them and complete my application, what would happen if I later want to send an additional letter to them? Will they check AMCAS to download the 4th letter even after my secondary is completed? If they do, when would they do it?
