Sorry if this is a bit repetitive but, for the record, I did use the search function.

How do med schools look at letters of rec from professors with whom you didn't take a class?
I'm debating whether to ask for an extra LOR from my academic advisor or from another professor who will probably be my thesis advisor. My academic advisor has known me since my freshman year, is familiar with my academic record, but I've never actually taken a class from him (though I did play in a jazz ensemble he directs). My likely thesis advisor is also familiar with my transcript and helped me plan my programme of study (as did academic advisor, but that goes without saying), I have taken two of her courses, but she has only known me since sophomore year.

My other LORs are definitely coming from professors whose classes I have taken: two of my science professors (microbiology and cell biology) and from a non-science professor whose class (a literature-based freshman seminar) I took freshman year and was the assigned tutor for sophomore year.
